Geoff was contacted by Kayla Rolland's father, Rick Rolland.  She is the 6 year old shot by her classmate.  He met with the family and discussed a lawsuit.  He said state law makes it hard to sue government officials, but he might be able to make a case if students or teachers knew about the gun before Kayla's death but did nothing.  Similar type of case he is planning in Littleton, CO.

Kayla Rolland's father wants to make sure someone is held accountable for the death of his daughter.

Their prime target reportedly is the school district. He said other other students were aware that the gun was there and they reported it to adults, who discounted it, presuming it was a squirt gun.  He also said Kayla Rolland did not die instantly, and suggests her life might have been saved.  He said the school nurse was not on duty, so he is not sure Kayla received proper medical care and treatment.

The second target is gun manufacturers.

They do not blame the boy and likely will not go after his relatives.  He said he will worry about who is responsible so that Kayla's father can deal with the tragedy.

It was decided between the lawyers that Kayla's mother would have control over Kayla's estate and all decisions, but the father would still be involved in decisions in some aspect.
